Onion Rings

- 3 large onions, sliced into rings
- 1 cup self-rising flour
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- Vegetable oil for deep-frying
Soak the onion rings in a bowl of ice water for 30 minutes; drain well. Combine the flour, egg, milk, water, oil and salt in a bowl and mix well. Dip each onion ring in the batter and fry in hot oil until golden brown.
Yield: 6 to 8 servings.
