Southern Fried Green Tomatoes

- 2 to 3 green tomatoes, sliced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 cup self-rising flour
- Vegetable oil for deep-frying
Sprinkle the tomato slices with salt and pepper. Dip each slice in the egg and coat with the flour. Fry in hot oil until golden brown.
Serve this simple and tart dish as a side for a meal or as an appetizer with your favorite dip.
Yield: 4 to 6 servings.
