Geraniums are a sturdy source of color from spring through fall.
| Geranium-Zonal
(Pelargonium xhortorum)ANNUAL • FULL SUN Height: 12 to 18Spacing: 9 inchesDon’t let the name Zonal confuse you. This is the classic geranium that bears a bright ball of flowers atop a sturdy stem. The term zonal comes from the zone of color in the leaves and is used by the trade to distinguish these from other geraniums such as ivy leaf. Plant zonal geraniums after the last frost in spring. Easy-to-grow zonal geraniums do well in hot, dry conditions, but may pause in extreme heat; if so, just continue feeding and watering, and plants will bloom well again when the hot spell passes. They are perfectly suited for containers. Keep old flowers trimmed for the best show. Space transplants 9 inches apart. |
